Sam Mathers
Architectural Assistant

Sam was born in Northern Ireland and studied architecture at Queen’s University Belfast. During his degree he was awarded the First Year Foundation Scholarship and First Year Design Prize, was nominated for the RIBA President’s Medals Student Awards (Part 1), and in 2016 won the University’s prize for best academic performance. Sam was also selected for a summer internship at a practice in New York, where he took part in a Habitat for Humanity project to repair homes in Alabama that had been damaged by a tornado.

In 2016 Sam graduated with first class honours, as well as recognition of his commitment to extra-curricular activities, and joined Walters & Cohen later that year. Since then he has worked mainly on the masterplan and innovation building for Somerset College in South Africa and has also contributed to projects for St Paul’s School and competitions.
