Competition Win: Wycombe Abbey School
We are delighted to announce our latest competition win: a masterplan and new boarding house for Wycombe Abbey School.
The school was founded in 1896 and is located on a 170-acre campus near High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The grounds were designed by Capability Brown and include woodland, a lake and listed buildings that give the school a wonderful character. On the first site visit, Michál spotted a deer in the woods - a good omen, perhaps?
The school’s website features a collection of the front doors to their boarding houses. We were inspired by this and asked ourselves what sort of door do we want the new house to have. From there, the design grew into a building that fits into its landscape and encourages girls to study, socialise and even garden together in a home away from home. Olivia, our Part 1 student, drew several wonderful sketches that capture the look and feel of the house.
It’s an exciting project and we look forward to working with the school.
