HRH The Princess Royal Visits Boathouse 4
On Monday 20 March HRH The Princess Royal made a commemorative visit to Boathouse 4 in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
In the Second World War the boathouse was used for building and repairing small boats, including landing craft that took part in D-Day. Now, since the building reopened last year, small craft are celebrated in an exhibition on the first floor gallery, while visitors can also observe the important restoration and maintenance of historic boats on the ground floor.
We are delighted that The Princess Royal was able to see the exhibition and meet the people who worked so hard to bring the building back to life as a visitor destination and workshop.
